From 1974 to 2016, observations of Caribou on the Slate Islands Provincial Park archipelago revealed the effects of Wolf arrivals in the winters of 1993-94 and 2003-04. Wolves contributed to the near extinction of Caribou on the islands, influencing Caribou behavior and kill locations. The ecosystem was further altered by the impact on North American Beavers, Red Foxes, and Snowshoe Hares.
